I Hate to Be the “If This Was a White Person” Guy, But…

In this day and age when it doesn’t take long for a short video to go viral, it seems that a week doesn’t go by without a cellphone recording of a white person saying racist things to someone who isn’t white popping up on the news.

Now, I hate it when people pull the “If this was an [x] person, things would have turned out worse”. But, to me, this is clearly a case of just that. So, this lady is abusing her child, abusing the man whose car was dinged, yelling homophobic and racist obscenities, being belligerent and at times violent, and to my knowledge, this did not make national or international news. And in this case, I hate to say it, but if this WAS a white person pulling this kind of thing, it would definitely make national news.

Now, clearly the video did go viral to an extent. It has over 14 million views. So, 14 million people have seen this video of a black woman losing it in a parking lot, swearing at her kids, swearing at everyone around her, being an overall horrible person, and yet it didn’t make a dent in the news. We ALL know that this would be very different if a white person had done this…because we know that white people have gone on racist rants and ended up with their faces plastered all over the news, they have lost jobs, they have been completely demonized, they have paid the price for their terrible…
